Trying to find a place around SF that carries Apple and Cherry wook chunks. I found a place in Santa Clara, but it is quite a haul. So wanted to see if anything else is closer.

Thank you

Barbeques Galore is a chain that sells most types of wood chunks people would want for smoking. They have a location in Marin, and probably one on the Peninsula north of Santa Clara.

The peninsula location is in Palo Alto on El Camino Real. The San Rafael location is not too far from the city assuming there's not much traffic along the Golden Gate Bridge. Both do carry apple and cherry wood chunks. Consider the oak wood chunks if you're smoking something for a really long time, like brisket.

I asked the same question a year ago and thanks to Nancy Berry I found this place and got a fifty pound bag of cherry wood. But they have at least four types of fruit wood.

Lazzari on Bayshore at Industrial near the San Francisco-Brisbane border

It is hard to find but well worth it. Also a large selection of charcoal too.

Lazzari is great. It's not that hard to find -- just look for the lawn sculptures on the east side of, turn in (that's Industrial) and then turn left in to the old railroad roundhouse area that is occupied by Lazzari. Park close to the large building and then go up the rickety stairs (on the landing you'll see the different kinds of wood chunks that are available) and order the wood at the counter. Pick it up downstairs.
They'll help you load it into your car if you get a lot. And, by the way, they sell REAL HARDWOOD charcoal briquets in 20 lb. bags. These are infinitely better than the lousy ones sold in the grocery store. And you can also get mesquite lump charcoal in 40 lb. bags, wood chips, and firewood for much less than you will pay in the store.
