Hey chowhounds, I'm looking for a venue downtown core for 40 people for an off-site meeting.

The setup of the meeting should be:

*1pm-3pm: meeting/presentation in a private room - we'll need to use a projector and screen.
*3pm-5pm: drinks (nice to have a private area for our group. However, it doesn't have to be all exclusive for our group)

One venue is preferred for both objectives.

Any suggestions (other than Canoe, Vertical, Far Niente, Court House)?

This might sound like an odd suggestion, but we had a firm lunch/meeting at the restaurant in The Fitness Institute (which is now called the Toronto Athletic Club). It's called Stratus (the restaurant): http://www.torontoathleticclub.com/st.... Great view of the city, there's a bar in the room and it was a few years ago, but I recall the food being pretty good.
Another potential option is Osgoode Hall, but I'm not sure if they will rent out their boardrooms for non-legal meetings. The restaurant is great there though.

I think that any of the places mentioned could do it for the right price - but if it's soon, they might be booked with seasonal gatherings.

Stratus is good place. However, their lunch will end around 3pm or later. We won't need lunch and we'll start the meeting at 1pm. Stratus could be good for an exclusive dinner event.

Osgoode Hall for our group meeting might be a bit serious, I guess? However, I'll take a look at it.

You could always look into The Vault at One King West, or at the Ontario Club. Both unique and somewhat different, and the food has been good when I've been there. (It's been a couple of years for the Ontario Club though.)

Great suggestion! I just contacted One King West and they're going to email me some info. However, the bar will be set up in the meeting room. I'm sure that's what my folks prefer. I'll provide them with the option anyway.

I'll take a book at Ontario Club.

How about George? They are connected to the Verity Club, which has lots of private meeting rooms. But it is a private club, so I don't know if they allow outside users to book their room.

George is great spot. However, they're fully booked up at the day that we're looking for. Also, in order to book Verity Club, we'll have a group member who's a member of the Club.

Talking about Club, my former colleagues went to Albany Club before, when the President is a member is the Club.

I'd suggest The Charlotte Room, Toronto's best kept secret. It's a classy place and I've seen alot of companies use it for meetings. The food there is really really good. Plus they've got a private room with a pool table. www.charlotteroom.com
