Vegas; Cafe Martorano?
Has anyone been here yet? We are going with friends who rave about the Fort Lauderdale location.
Thanks for any input!

I have heard that the food can be good. The atmosphere is crazy, loud, very LOUD music, sometimes the same record over and over. TV screens with movies like Scarface playing. I also heard that the chef, Martorano, was having open heart surgery back in Florida...and the restaurant may close.
Steve Martorano did have triple bypass surgery three weeks ago and is mending in his home in Florida but expects to be back to Las Vegas by December 1st.
According to the media, the place has a three hour wait so I wouldn't imagine it is closing but if you hear anything more please let me know. I'll post a review when I return.
Okay, here is my reveiw.
Food was really good. The best meatball I've ever had. Amazing fresh goat cheese sauteed in a rare olive oil. Lobster was great. Lots of courses and the food was on a scale of 1-10 about an 8.
Because there were 12 of us, we had no choice but to be served family style at the cost of $125 per person plus tax and tip no alcohol.
We sit down and the staff immediately starts pouring Voss water. We were not given menus of what we were getting to eat, asked, and were ignored.
They started bringing out platters of food, serving us, and leaving the leftovers on the table which was what we expected.
When the lobster came out, one side of our table got served and a waiter just dumped the other platter of lobster on the other side of the table. One member of our party (who owns five restaurants) got up and kindly served the other half of the table.
We each have a couple of glasses of wine with dinner.
We get the bill and notice the first charge was $77 worth of Voss water. No one asked for this and the waiters just kept pouring.
My girlfriend and her husband who are in the business went to find the manager to dispute this charge with him as our waiters ignored our request (my husband has been in the restaurant business for 35 years and now works as a consultant). We are also all pretty well world traveled so we aren't a bunch of Clampetts in Vegas.
The manager asked my girlfriend, verbatim as I was standing right there, "Are you f#$%&g for real?". Her husband said "Yes, we are for real we would like the charge removed"
The manager removed the charge.
The food was great, service spotty, horribly overpriced and we feel like they tried to rip us off.
Would I go back? Not to the outpost in Vegas. Fort Lauderdale maybe.
