Big Fat Burrito - short review

xtal Nov 13, 2007 08:44 PM

I stopped by Big Fat Burrito this afternoon for lunch.

A bit of background: I've been to BFB a few times, and have thought their offerings to be fairly good.

The restaurant wasn't very busy, as it was mid-afternoon when I was there. I ordered a pulled pork burrito, with all the toppings, a spice level of medium, and opted to eat-in.

The burrito seemed to be well wrapped initially, so I dug in. I was somewhat disappointed, as the pulled pork was rather tasteless. No requisite smokiness or BBQ flavour. The fresh salsa that they used was fine, but there was so much liquid (from the tomatoes, I suspect) that the flour tortilla disintegrated within minutes. Also, the requested heat didn't show up until the last few bites.

So, ultimately filling and inexpensive, but quite boring. I wish I had stuck with the yam burrito.

I'm in no rush to go back.

I've been to BFB a few times. It's totally hit or miss. Somtimes it's very tasty, others really bland . This has happened when ordering the same item a couple of times, not poor menu selection. I have yet to check out the yam burrito but might if I'm in the area again!

I agree with you xtal - overly expensive, considering the quality of the burrito. I'd prefer a halibut burrito at Burrito Boyz anyday.

My SO and i were going to go to Big Fat Burrito last weekend.....there were no customers in the restaurant and the punk music was so loud we decided to dine a little Mexican spot a few doors down (which had very nice owners!)
