Best Yakiniku in Torrance area?
We've been eating at Tama-en quite frequently and are wondering if there is anything else in the neighborhood. I know Gyu-kaku is further up the street, but it seems to get mixed reviews here. Any other recs for Japanese BBQ in Torrance/Lomita?
Yes, Sansui-Tei is one of the best. Somewhat pricey for the amount of food, but very very tasty. It's a small place, so if you are going with a group, try going early.
I believe they also have Happy Hour which like $1 BEER! woohoo!
Gyu-Kaku is too commercialized, and like a lot of chain, it's quality and service sometimes suffer.
I will never eat there again. The food was great, but a hostess came to our table after we ordered and told us our waiter made a mistake and that they would " let it go this time" but we are not permitted to order only one combination dinner at $30. . We had to order 2 !! We ordered: 1 combination dinner , 2 alcoholic drinks , and a full dinner a la carte and they told us that we can't do that again, we must both order full dinners. Our bill totaled $86.80 minus a 20% tip which we left to our waiter. There are combination dinner at $19.00 each, but we ordered a deluxe one and one dinner totally a la carte. I was totally insulted. When we complained the hostess said it was " policy."
So a $100. dinner is not enough for them......
