Veal kidneys? (sometimes offal isn't so awful)
My family background is partly English - I'm the only person I know who grew up thinking sauteed veal kidneys and mushrooms in bechamel was a big treat for Sunday breakfast.
Does anyone know a reliable source?
Please don't suggest the North End. I lived there for 20 years and was a regular customer of the butcher shops the entire time. They're wonderful. never had problems ordering any kind of chicken, beef, lamb, veal as scallopine or a roast, but the couple times I asked about veal kidneys they suddenly got a little deaf or had problems with my English.
I've checked out the Super 88 in Allston a couple times but have only seen pork kidneys.
Thanks!

i've seen kidneys (they were small, i'm assuming they were lamb or veal) at C-Mart in ChinaTown.

C mart usually has pork kidneys. Taiwan Cafe has a good prep w/sesame oil/..#11 on lunch specials.
Was in Sulmona this AM..They no longer get them; the veal hind quarters are coming in without kidneys...maybe a special order?
I've seen them at Savenor's..but I'd call first to confirm or special order.
