Tea or Coffee on a Sunday

I am meeting friends in the city for coffee or tea Sunday afternoon and am at a loss for where to go. Any suggestions?

try Podunk on east 5th st... adorable.. like being in some aunties victorian house... fantastic scones, savory and sweet.

Cafe Grumpy on West 22nd (between 7th and 8th) has great coffee..each cup is made from scratch, plus a small selection of pastries and sweets.

The Le Gamin locations are usually easy to find a seat at, and they don't mind if you don't order food. Locations include Hudson St in west village, W Houston, east 5th st and I think another on west 13th?

There's also one in the East Village, East of Tompkins Square Park somewhere below 7th Street. On the same street as LaVagna (near the Avenue B Garden). There's another place near there that might be good, can't remember the name. I think it's on B. NOT Kate's Joint.

MUD in St. Mark's Square has good coffee and a little backyard for breakfast. Alice's Tea Cup is another nice place for tea.

Not sure what neighborhood you are looking for. I'm a downtown girl so my suggestions will be too. Jack's Coffee (jacksstirbrew.com) is a cozy small place. One location is downtown on Front Street (near Seaport). Jack's is also on W. 10th Street. Financier is also nice and there are three locations downtown. My favorite is also the largest and it is near the Federal Reserve downtown.

Jack's on West 10th is tiny, though. Hard to find a place to sit!

Maybe one of the Joe's coffee locations? Those are slightly bigger.

I might also try: Soy Luck Club, Amai Tea House, Caffe Emilia, Think Coffee.

The Jack's on Front Street is a little bigger, but still less than 20 seats.

Le Pain Quotidien has two outlets and is simply perfect.
One is at 65th off Columbus. The other is more midtown.

LPQ actually has about a dozen locations in and around Manhattan.

Yes - there's also one on Madison up in the 80s. Two places that I really like are Via Quadronno and Bottega del Vino - wonderful coffee, panini and pastries.

there's also a Pain Quotidien on the corner of 8th St and Fifth Ave, and i agree, it is totally perfect
