Chinese Delivery in Silver Lake?

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anybody knows of a place that delivers Chinese (not Thai) food in Silver Lake? I've searched the back boards and know for a fact that Chi Dynasty in Los Feliz and Fortune Inn in Glendale do not deliver (at least to Silver Lake).

Any other ideas? I'm looking specifically for delivery options (I am aware that there are better Chinese options in other parts of town, but there are times when only delivery will do).

Thanks for any suggestions!

  1. The place in the strip mall on Fountain, behind McDonalds used to deliver. I can not remember the name.

It's Point Dume. I ate there once and lived to tell the tale, so give it a try. What about Coral Reef?
      I've never tried it.
Please do report back, as I'm currently working on a comprehensive delivery guide for the neighborhood.
Also, while Chi Dynasty is moving, I think the new restaurant going into the old
Chi Dynasty space will still be Chinese, so maybe they will deliver...

Coral Reef delivers and that's the bad news. The food is dreadful.
Fortune in Glendale has just been sold, so who knows what might be happening there.
You are in the Chinese restaurant wasteland - head for Chinatown or the 626 area code, asap!!!

Funny, I just noticed Point Dume yesterday when a friend dragged me to the aquarium store in that mini-mall. It seemed so shrouded in mystery as all the windows were covered up, I wondered who ate thereā€¦
The real mystery seems to be where do you find good Chinese food in the hood (regardless of delievry option)?
Very much looking forward to the delivery guide for Silver Lake!

The delivery guide, I can deliver -- unfortunately, I don't think I will be able to provide a guide to good Chinese food in the neighborhood!

Chowpatty, would you be able to provide any sneak peeks at your delivery guide? We ordered from a place the other night that had left a slick-looking menu at our gate and it was dreadful. We have our favorite neighborhood spots, but so few deliver. This would be a hugely appreciated resource. Thanks!

Ate at Point Dume 20 years ago and never went back, though as I recall it was better than its sister location in Malibu (from whence the Point Dume name is derived). Trouble is that Silverlake/Los Feliz/East Hollywood is close enough to Chinatown such that it's not worth anybody's while to locate a good Chinese restaurant in the area. I guess you could go to Wah's Golden Hen, but it really isn't much better.

        2. Thanks for the feedback, everyone. Las night, I was feeling under the weather and hoping to order some plain old wonton soup, white rice and moo goo gai pan. Alas it was not to be! While I know Silver Lake is located close to Chinatown and not too far away from SGV, I can't help but think that a decent Chinese restaurant would make a KILLING if they delivered to our neighborhood. I'll keep my fingers crossed about the restaurant that goes into the Chi Dynasty space.

I used to order Chinese delivery from China Inn in Glendale, but they were not answering the phone last night -- I don't know if this is because they were closed or what, but it didn't pan out.

Is Coral Reef the restaurant near the Tee Gee in Atwater? I've wondered about that place . . . it looks scary, but if it's the only option, maybe I'll give it a whirl next time. That, or this Point Dume place. What about the place in the plaza by Gelsons -- which looks scary, too . . . hmmmm.

P.S. As a fallback, I ended up ordering wonton soup and pad see ew from Nad Pob, the thai place in the mini-mall where Saito is. It was very good -- the wonton soup had a delicious spicy broth, and came with chicken, shrimp, veggies and cilantro in addition to the wontons, and the pad see ew was tasty. Unfortunately, both were too spicy for my upset stomach last night :-( I will order from there again when I'm feeling better, however!

Song Hay? Don't do it. Ripped to shreds on this board. The original Coral Reef wasn't bad 20 years ago. It was then replaced by Imperial Seafood which was also OK, then for some reason reverted to Coral Reef. I never went back, which according to this board, was a good decision.

Gold! I think I may of found a good Glendale Chinese place that delivers to some of Silver Lake.....

A while back I had gotten a menu in the mail from Wok Talk. I was about to throw it away since it said Chinese food and sushi rolls. I'm not a big believer in any place doing 2 different cuisines. But then I noticed it said delivery and threw it into my menu drawer instead.

Well last nite, everything we usually order for delivery sounded blah. And as I was sorting thru the menus I came across Wok Talk. Well, why not we said.

So we ordered some Wonton Soup, Crab Rangoon, Thai Style Chicken Wings, and Orange Crispy Beef. 40 minutes later, we were presently surprised. Everything tasted pretty good! We will definitely order again and may even try their sushi next time.

Not sure how far into Silver Lake they would deliver because we are right near the 5 and 2. But worth a shot!

Thanks for reporting on Wok Talk -- I got their menu recently and set it aside for just such an instance. When I try it I'll be sure to post.

          2. Good news: the newly relocated Chi Dynasty on 1813 Hillhurst Ave. will start to delivery on about middle of Feb.323-667-3388 or check their web side

              1. That site listed three restaurants that deliver to Silverlake 90039 and none of them are Chinese...
