Peking Duck in San Francisco

We must be in San Francisco over the Thanksgiving Weekend. Does anyone know of a good restaurant that serves great Peking Duck?

The absolute best Peking Duck in the city is at Five Happiness Restaurant on Geary and 6th Ave. I was actually just there again this past Sunday. The duck is perfect and served with homemade pancakes. Plus, they make a soup out of the duck carcass.

The restaurant itself is very old and not all that clean. And I think most of their other food on the menu is only okay, but for the perfect Peking Duck, this is the place to go. We are actually thinking of ordering a duck to go for Thanksgiving then heating it up in our oven at home.

This place has been there forever. Always drive past it, but have never eaten there. I always thought of it as another greasy hole-in-the-wall. Never would have guessed that they had really good Peking Duck.

While neither Koi Palace nor Great China mentioned in that thread are in SF, I second both of them if OP wants "great" Peking duck. Great China requires a reservation if you want the duck.

"Great China requires a reservation if you want the duck." Is that new? I've been there twice in the last six months, did not call ahead, and ordered the duck right off the menu. Which, btw, was amazing.

Most places do the Peking Duck on buns, rather than the thin crepe-like pancakes. I like Yank Sing because you can just get one or two orders, rather than having a whole or half duck. (Although they serve it with steamed buns, not pancakes.)

I understand that the "real deal" not only presents the wrapped item, but also takes the rest of the duck back to the kitchen afterwards and prepares it as a separate dish. I've not seen that, though, so it would be interesting if anywhere does that.

Koi Palace serves it "Three Ways" as part of one of their family dinners (this one is a pretty good deal, in case you think KP is too expensive):

Had the duck at Koi Palace nine days ago (see photo). Was actually a little disappointed. It was not quite as good as the previous one we had at KP.
