Markie D's in Culver City

  • 7

Yesterday while watching football, i got a hankering for a Philly CheeseSteak sandwich.
We came across Markie D's on here about a year ago and have become hooked on the place.

We hopped in the car and drove to 11172 Washington Boulevard, Culver City. There was a hotwinds.com sign up instead of the Markie D's. We do another drive by to confirm.

Nothing, it's gone.

We JUST checked their NEW website, same address, no talk of a move or a closing, their phone message says Now open sundays 12-6.

Does anyone here know anything?
If they are indeed closed, i need some suggestions for a new place!!

Please note that Philly West is on the east side of Westwood Blvd, and there is a free shared parking lot in the back. I do think they now have the best philly cheesesteak on the westside, and their burger is even better.

The Shack on Wilshire at about 25th is another philly-themed sports bar, with good burgers and daily specials, but I don't think their cheesesteak is their best item. Victor Jr's is also on Washington about a mile or so east of Markie D's, across from the studio, and has excellent meatball subs, eggplant parm, salads, and goodlooking hefty pizzas. They offer a philly cheesesteak, but it is sorta like a warm hoagie rather than an authentic cheesesteak.

I'd agree with all the above and add South Street in Westwood Village. Can't remember the name of the street, but it's just South of Stan's Donuts. Okay steak, ask for double meat and not chopped. Great fries. And lots of different pepper spreads.

      2. After hearing so much hype about Markie D's I finally went and was totally disapointed and I love cheesesteaks, I feel that the Phillys Best chain put out a much better cheesesteak.
