Prairie Farms Pumpkin Spice Milk...mmmm

On an impulse (and with the nudging of a $.40 off coupon) I picked up a quart of Prarie Farms Pumpkin Spice Milk. In addition to the pumpkin, there was also chocolate mint and chocolate cherry. Going home, I immediately popped the tab and took a swig (i live alone). Wow. Smooth, creamy, and incredibly rich. This was no watery skim. If a toothless person wanted to eat pumpkin pie (not that the original would be too difficult anyway) complete with whipped cream, this would be it.It was amazing. It tasted of pure whipping cream. Maybe this post is a little too starstruck because I LOVE whipped cream anyway, but I was definately swooning after a few swigs. Deciding to be civilized, I poured myself a small glass. Yes, it is definately an artificial orange but it wasnt glowing neon, rather a subtle, muted tone. And yes, some might find it a little too sweet. But to my whipped cream loving tastebuds, this milk is nirvana. A little goes a long ways--especially at 250 calories for every half cup. But mysteriously enough, the quart seemed to disappear within 2 days. I might go back and try the chocolate cherry, but pumpkin spice has set the bar...

  1. I cut out those coupons too--did you happen to notice if it was sweetened with sugar or HFCS?

honestly, i dont remember, but judging on how sweet it was, i would guess yes. It was a little bit of a sugar shocker. BUT it still was delicious..think thick, creamy pumpkin milkshake

I too cut out the coupon, being a lover of anything pumpkin. The chocolate cherry sounded yummy also. As I read above regarding the sweetness of it, I was thinking that if you wanted a less sweet version, you could mix half pumpkin milk with half regular skim milk to cut the sweetness of it.
I will have to look for this milk when I go to the store next time. I know I will consume the entire jug in record time. (I don't drink a lot of regular milk, but give me sugar in anything and GONE! Not to MENTION the pumpkin flavor.)

    2. do NOT buy the odwalla brand pumpkin soy protein smoothie. yuk. yuk. yuk, i say! tastes like liquid cinnamon....

      1. That sounds amazing. I will sometimes make my own pumpkin flavored milk when it's cold outside, and it's actually really healthy! I heat up milk with some canned pumpkin, add some brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice. I think it's delicious :)

        1. Does anyone know where this liquid goodness can be found in New York City?

Unfortunately, I think its been discontinued. I saw the eggnog come out a few weeks ago and immediately looked around for the orange carton of pumpkin milk...alas I cound not and still have not found it this season. *sob*

If you have a Super Target nearby, Archer Farms makes a good version....really rich, but tasty. They may carry it at the regular Targets, but I'm not sure.
