Trout (the shack, not the fish) in the Winter
I've only been there outdoors during the summertime, and I can't remember--do they have indoor seating? Or is this strictly a seasonal spot, like Gowanus Yacht Club?

Taken over? Hardly. Gravy and Trout were two businesses owned by the same people, sharing staff, restrooms, and a kitchen. Trout took off (mentioned in NY Mag) was crowded every night, and Gravy never went anywhere (they should have - I always got good service, great sweet potato fries, and amazing ribs). As winter came, the owners made a smart business call and re-branded gravy as "Big Trout" - the menu has barely changed, the beers, decor, and staff are all the same, but now a few more people come out. They've gotten rid of the sweet potato fries and ribs, but they have fries with herbs and bay seasoning that almost makes up for it. Great fireplace and hot drinks in the winter too.
