Where to eat Thanksgiving dinner in Lake Tahoe or Reno?

Hi there!
My boyfriend and I are going to Lake Tahoe and Reno for Thanksgiving weekend, and were wondering if anyone out there had recommendations for good places to eat Thanksgiving dinner? Our budget is $15-$25 per person. Thanks so much!

    1. If you want a pretty good meal for that amount, a good choice would probably be one of the casinos. The Peppermill (http://www.peppermillreno.com/) and El Dorado both have good restaurants. You might check their websites to see what specials they're offering for Thanksgiving. Here's the list of Thanksgiving meals at Peppermill - http://www.peppermillreno.com/dining/....

I also noticed today the Grand Sierra Resort's Lodge Buffet was offering a big Thanksgiving buffet for $19.95 apiece. No idea if it's any good, but I suspect it would be at least OK. Personally, I prefer the food at the Peppermill over Grand Sierra Resort (which used to be the Hilton, and is still somewhat in transition).

        1. We had a fab meal at Sterlings in the Silver Legacy one Thanksgiving. Can't recall what we paid but the food was memorable!

Sterlings is good, and their buffet is one of my favorites. They do tend to be a little pricey, however. Today's Reno Gazette Journal (www.rgj.com) had a listing of local casinos and their Thanksgiving offerings...you might want to check it out. Most of the buffets were in your price range.

Sterlings is fabulous but way out of OP's price range. I second the buffet at Grand Sierra. It's one of the better ones in Reno. The Hyatt at Incline Village does very good buffets at the holidays but If I recall correctly, the price was closer to $40 a per person without drinks.

                  • I ate at the Harrah's buffet in Tahoe last year for Thanksgiving. It was excellent, but the line was very long. I suggest going early.

Can't remember the price. I think it was slightly out of your range, but it was definitely worth it. Very high quality, for a buffet.

                      1. Thanks for all the responses! We are going to try Peppermill. Happy Thanksgiving, all!

Hiya! My family is spending Thanksgiving week at Club Tahoe in Incline Village and are wondering where to have Thanksgiving dinner. Thinking about the Island Buffet at the Peppermill in Reno. Is that where you went last year? How was it? Would you say it was kid-friendly?

Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you and have a great holiday!

Oh! Why wouldn't you want to stay up at the Lake for Thanksgiving? I'd check to see if the Lone Eagle Grille at the Hyatt has a Thanksgiving menu - I'm sure they do and it's beautiful.

The Lone eagle looks like a very lovely place for an intimate dinner with my wife; but $12 iceberg salads and $40 entrees aren't going to go over too well with my finicky little kids. Thanks for the tip, though. Perhaps my wife and I can find childcare somewhere and slip away for a quiet evening alone!

                                • We wound up going over the mountain to the Island Buffet at the Peppermill in Reno. It was a fine place to strap on the old feedbag! They didn't charge us for our just-turned-four year-old and our six year-old was able to have pizza for Thanksgiving dinner. My wife and I enjoyed soup, salad and two desserts as well as heaping plates of turkey, stuffing, taters (mashed and sweet), and veggies, all smothered in giblet gravy. Then we let the kids run amok in the arcade for an hour or so before heading back. Perhaps we'll do it again next year!

BTW, the Cal-Neva Casino on the north shore was also having a Thanksgiving buffet. It was under $20 per person but we felt that the Peppermill was probably worth the extra few bucks.
