My parents will show up with a few boxes of Mrs. Paul's frozen candied sweet potatoes on Thanksgiving day. But I refuse to serve them. Can you please recommend a good recipe for making Thanksgiving sweet potatoes? My only restriction is that the oven belongs to the turkey, so I either need a stovetop recipe or (preferably) something that can be made ahead of time and warmed up.

Thanks!

Just say no to marshmallows and go for the savory flavor that rightly belongs to sweet potatoes!

My sister requested a sweet potato pie for Thanksgiving. I usually make instead a maple butternut squash puree.
I am absolutely opposed to marshmellows, and wouldn't want it too sweet. suggestions?

I like to make a mashed/whipped sweet potato with brown sugar, cream, cinnamon, nutmeg, and then chop some apple into it. When I bake it I put a layer of pecans and brown sugar on top. It can be made ahead and rewarmed no problem.
