Bistro Italiano -- hidden gem or gross?

I've been living on the hill for 8 years now and there is an Italian restaurant called Bistro Italiano behind Schneiders that I've always been a bit scared to try. Anyone ever been? What was your experience?

It's adequate and definitely not gross. For the price - on Capitol Hill - it's outstanding. If you are looking for reasonably priced food when you don't feel like cooking, this is a place that won't be painfully expensive. The service can be a bit slow and I find anything here with a cream sauce to be so dull I could fall asleep. Nonetheless, if you find yourself wanting lasagna some night and you don't feel like making it and Stouffer's is not an option - this place should be an option.

It's not pizza paradiso, but I like their golly's white pizza a lot. I have tried other dishes and Iiked them too. I do ask that they put any tomato sauce on the side, because they put too much on the pasta for my taste. It's just a nice dependable neighborhood cafe, with a big plus is that they do deliver.

I think the pizza is very good. The sit-down food is nothing special, and the atmosphere leaves a lot to desired, but it's not gross.

Good to know. I may dip my toe in the shallow end with a pizza sometime soon. Even though I'm only about 2 blocks away, winter is around the corner so the delivery tip will come in handy. Thanks!
