Fresh truffles in SD county?

maestra Nov 9, 2007 07:50 PM

I bought a perfect little Oregon black truffle in SF last weekend, and I'm already wanting more. Far West Fungi up there had such great variety -- Italians one day; Oregon blacks and Oregon whites the next; Himalayan blacks as well. Of course I was jealous of their fresh mushroom selection as well.
Do we have any vendors in the area? At reasonable prices?
For all the good food available to us here, SF reminded me how much we are missing.

You're not missing it, you're enjoying it when you go to San Francisco! :-) Seriously though, no - I don't think you'll find anything like that here. We are getting better down here - SF just keeps outpacing us!

I saw truffles 2-3 times over the last 6 years at Jonathan's in LJ. You might give them a call to find out if they have some now.

Thanks, honkman! I'll be near there next weekend.
Oh, I guess there is one thing I buy here frequently but didn't see in SF: passion fruit. So there, San Francisco!
