Sripraphai (Woodside) or Lotus of Siam (Las Vegas)?

Which is the better Thai restaurant? I've heard both places praised to death on Chowhound but have only been to LOS. I like LOS and think it's marginally better than the Thailand Restaurant in lower Manhattan (corner of Baxter and Bayard St).

I've got to say that a run-of-the-mill Thai restaurant in Chicago (or some in L.A.) is better than most of the supposedly "authentic" ones in New York, probably because these cities have much bigger Thai populations. Sripraphai is one of the very few exceptions. And it is excellent. Any Thai person from out of town that I've ever taken there has been surprised by the quality. It's too bad, however, that it no longer (by a long shot) has the grocery store feel that it did a few years ago. By the way, I tried Chao Thai on Sietsema's recommendation a year ago and I thought they did some things right but that it could not compare to Sripraphai at its best. As for Lotus of Siam, I've never been.

in my opinion, just like pho huang in vegas kicks the butt of any vietnamese restaurant in ny, i would take lotus over sriprahai in a heartbeat. i do love that coconut sorbet dessert in the coconut shell at sripahai, but the food is much better in vegas. go figure!
