Help! I am flying tomorrow to DFW for 4 days. I have not had decent chicken fried steak since 1983 in Paris, TX.
Any great recommendations in DFW?
Thanks!

Babe's Chicken Dinner House. Locations in Carrollton, Garland, Burleson, Roanoke. They make it fresh all day long. Great sides, especially creamed corn. Hot homemade biscuits with honey or molasses. Also chicken, potroast, catfish. Super old school Texas cooking!!!

I really like Highland Park Cafeteria and Bubba's. D Magazine reports that Ozona has the very best Chicken Fried Steak in Dallas, but I strongly dissagree. In fact, after the article was published I rushed to Ozona to see what all the hype was about. It was good....don't get me wrong...but certainly not the best in Dallas. The server asked us if we agreed with D-Magazine's opinion. We tried politely to avoid answering, and even HE said that he didn't know where the article was coming from. I believe his direct quote was, "If this is the best Chicken Fried Steak that Dallas has to offer....I need to move!"

Tillman's Roadhouse in Oak Cliff has a Chicken Fried Hanger Steak with a Charred Poblano Cream Gravy. Excellent. And it's a fun place.

If my father-in-law isn't cooking it, Babe's in Garland is my favorite. You get a huge steak without too much breading, plus incredible sides.

The atmosphere is quite casual and the clientele would never be described as snobby.

Actually the original would be in Roanoke. The Sanger location is actually one of the newer ones that being said I actually like Sanger's chicken the best. Who ever is cooking in Sanger is letting the chicken "swim" a little longer in the deep fryer.
