Last-minute reservation for tonight with a friend, similar to Landmarc?

I'm responsible for finding a (last minute) reservation for a friend and I to catch up tonight, at 9 pm. Looking somewhere in the East Village (preferred), Soho (preferred), Tribeca, or West Village.

He took me to Landmarc last time, so I'm looking to treat him (treat or be treated!) to something in that similar price range. Somewhat trendy, not terribly loud, and not stuffy are great ways to start....Any ideas?

Ended up going to Jane just because reservations elsewhere were impossible to get on Friday, for Friday dinner. Quite good, great atmosphere for friends to catch up in (not too loud but still bustling).

Definitely a good backup plan for last minute plans that still turn out relaxed!

ugh...ditch plains is terrible in my opinion.

blue ribbon bakery across the street however, is a great option.
