Moving to offices downtown

My friend, who's meal is lunch, is really disappointed to move from the westside to downtown offices. He's really upset to have to go and find new places to eat during lunch. He's not that adventerous with eating. He pretty much needs a
1. Taco (durados) place
2. Pizza spot
3. BBQ joint

As examples of the his favorites for these are Taqueria Chiuahua (he's been at least three times a week since they opened up again), Lamonica's or Johnny's NY for Pizza, as far as BBQ he's pretty much disappointed with most things he's tried (him being southern and all).

  1. Where in downtown will he be? For tacos, he can go to Ana Maria's in the Grand Central Market. For pizza, there is a Lamonica's somewhere downtown, I forget exactly where. Pitfire is just okay in my opinion, but it is pizza. Can't help with BBQ as all I've had downtown is pretty mediocre.

    1. For BBQ:

A pizza place that is pretty good and has a lot of specialty pizzas along with the usual suspects plus khachapouri:

      1. 1. DTLA is a far better place for tacos. Why is he disappointed? Drive down pico to alvarado, grab some King Taco
        2. There's a lamonica's on 6th/hope. Far superior than it's other downtown counterparts
        3. BBQ king up fig/ceaser chavez. Love it or hate it. I like it.

All of these are within 10-15 minutes of DTLA

Highly suggested dishes: the rib tips at BBQ King (stunning) and al pastor tacos with salsa verde at King Taco (heavenly).

        2. This recent topic on crunchy/crispy/hard shell tacos

should address the OP's request better; I'm not sure if King Taco or the stands at GCM have tacos dorados. Senor Fish or El Atacor may be better options. How about taquitos at La Luz Del Dia or other stands in Olvera Street? There are other options in Highland Park but I can't remember specifics; potato tacos usually go hand in hand with fried tacos.

I second the reco on Spring Street Smokehouse; try the 1/3 lb brisket or tri-tip with AYCE bread. Sorry, I can't vouch for their pork BBQ.

The formerly Lamonicas downtown is now LA-NY Pizza.

BBQ King is usually discouraged for BBQ although their hamburger may be worth the l...o...n...g wait.
