dinner in Mill Valley
I need some suggestions for dinner in Mill Valley downtown area before a concert, not wildly expensive but need not be super cheap. Maybe $25-30 per person including a glass of wine, no dessert. I like Italian, Cal-Ital, etc. I am not interested in ethnic for Mill Valley downtown.
I've only had apps at Ora but they were very good (lobster bisque and grilled calamari) and I don't remember the music being that loud. If you order carefully u can hit your price point at Bungalow 44, the onion rings are really good and so are the apps and the burger. Vasco is fair to good, esp. for the price and location, the seared scallop and polenta appetizer has 5-6 scallops and the grilled asparagus salad with roasted peppers and onions in a kalamata vinagrette is my favorite meal there. I have heard that D'angelo's has improved but have not tried it again since I stopped going. I can't remember the name, but the flatbread place is quite good with a better than average wine selection and tasty salads.
Piazza d'Angelo has had its ups and downs and has been said to be currently on an up--but I have not yet tried it on its current bounce. A block away is Ora, a Pan-Asian/Cal-Asian attractive place whose chef, a Vietanmese, was once at Masa. I have not tried it but want to, so if you do--please report. Here is link to their website (warning: it has "music"):

I've enjoyed Piazza D'Angelo, right on the main square in Mill Valley.
I also like La Ginestra on Throckmorton (around the corner from Piazza D'Angelo). They have good food (homemade raviolis), but the owners are currently under fire for closing down Sweetwater down the street. Still... the food is pretty good.
