Hamilton Hounds: Dalina's Med and Egyptian

I just read a review in the Toronto Star for Dalina's that was quite glowing:
Thoughts on this place?

  1. This is a nice, off the beaten track restaurant that sells relatively authentic Egyptian/Mediterranean food. It is always warm, welcoming and the food tends to be more authentically prepared than more standard places in Hamilton, such as La Luna.

It's interesting to see that the Toronto Star is beginning to notice the little favourite local haunts here in Hamilton, I can only hope the extra attention does not render it impossible for locals to go to these gems.

We like it too. Give it a try and send us a report.

Prices have crept up over the past few years so while it's not the bargain it once was, the quality is still there. The maza appetizer platter has served me well as lunch and I have fond memories of the salmon and ricotta with dill in phyllo pouches.

      1. I went there for the first time a couple of months ago, and loved it. The food was lovely, and the staff and owner were all delightful. Prices were very modest, I thought.

        1. Thanks for the responses everyone. I also think it's nice that the Toronto papers are expanding outside of the core. I can't wait until they get to Northeast Scarborough/Markham.
I'm sure that next time I'm in Hamilton I'll try to make a stop at Dalina's and I'll post my review.

          1. Just wanted to resurrect this post as I was at Dalina's on Wednesday. Ideally situated for Copps Coliseum, this was an excellent pre-concert stop. The food is beautifully presented and lovingly prepared. Two mains, a half litre of wine, and one ample dessert was $70. A cozy little spot with some familiar and some unexpected dishes made for an excellent evening.
