Dining suggestions pre-UCLA/Royce Hall?

We're seeing Pina Bausch this weekend at Royce Hall (so excited) but I am really having a hard time coming up with a decent restaurant idea for that neck of the woods. Any suggestions? We'd be eating pre-curtain.

Many thanks.

  1. Pastina, on Westwood Blvd. is very good. It's a block or two south of Wilshire.

    1. For that show, you've got to go Japanese....go to Hamasaku early, sit at the sushi bar, then just drive up veteran to sunset...otherwise, Bel Air Hotel would be nice

      1. Were you thinking of something walking distance or just around the area?
If walking distance, there are only a handful of good restaurants, e.g. Napa Valley Grille, Tanino's, Tengu.
Pastina on WW blvd is also good. Shamshiri is decent Persian (also on WW blvd).
I would second Bel Air but that's further and I think you can't really have a quick meal there.
The sushi at Asakuma in Brentwood is always good. There's also Pecorino there, or for something casual Corral Tree Cafe is good.

        1. Within walking distance of UCLA: (though Royce is closer to north campus and Westwood Village is south of campus, so these would be a hike)

          - Gardens on Glendon
          - Napa Valley Grille
          - Palomino (love their mushroom soup- I think they have some kind fo 3 course deal if you are eating early or "first seating")
          - Tengu (sushi)
          - Gypsy Cafe

gotta echo palomino's "first seating" deal....great bang for the buck!
