Locked into downtown PDX for tonight and tomorrow eve. Prefer excellent food without the "fluff"...like when they "fluffed" my baked potato in that steak house in the Benson last time. Fresh, thoughtful, and well prepared, not pretentious are our preferences. Isn't there an Asian place with a good reputation near the Benson? Treat for my daughter and I...Thanks!

Great Sushi (Hiroshi) in the Pearl. About a 10 minute walk. Silk is also strong for Vietnamese. I am still not crazy about any of the Chinese food downtown.

By "fluff" do you mean pretentious? If not, I'd go straight to Clyde Common.

On Broadway there's Typhoon, only a block from the hotel. Asian is a broad expansive category of cuisine, so it's hard to pin down what you like. Other outstanding Asian would be Silk, a five minute walk.
I don't know what you mean by "fluff", but then again, I haven't been to a steak house in decades.
Other downtown can't miss: Higgins, about a ten minute walk.
