Best Happy Hour in Orange County

I'm looking for some good Happy Hours to go to in Orange County. Good food, cheap prices, nice trendy places. Does anyone know of any good ones? Hopefully, around Irvine, Tustin, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Anaheim areas....but Orange County in general is fine...give me your best ones!!! Thanks!

  1. A few of my favorites near the airport -

McCormick & Schmick's has a $1.95 bar menu if you have a drink, but is good in the bar area only. Is located at Jamboree/Main.

Daily Grill has a $2 bar menu with great food including a chicken pot pie. Good in the bar and at some of the tables on the patio. Dupont/Jamboree

Wildfish has $5 wines and martinis along with half off select appetizers including the crabcake which is excellent. Bison/MacArthur, behind UCI.

Memphis Cafe has $4 food and good drinks for happy hour. Try the Zuni frybread. At Bristol near the Anti-mall (LAB).

Agoura Churrascaria has $4 filet mignon bites and other goodies in the bar, along with complimentary cheese puff bread and bananas. Main/MacArthur near the airport

Bistango has special priced appetizers (lamb chops, beef skewers, etc) but regular priced drinks for their Happy Hour specials. Von Karman/Michelson

One of the classier and fun happy hours is over at Park Ave in Stanton. Although a bit of a hike, I really like the cozy, Rat Pack like interior that brings back memories of a far away time, and they serve a mean sidecar martini. Beach/Katella.

I have been looking for some really good happy hours so I would like to see this post survive. These aren't so trendy, but are some good ones.

Lazy Dog Cafe on Thursday nights starting at 8:00 has Deuce Deuce which is $2 for 22 ounces of Pabst Blue Ribbon, $2 for green apple or lemon drop martinis, $2 off all well and beers and $2 off all appetizers and pizzas. Really big appetizers.

Steelhead Brewery in Irvine on Tuesdays has $5 pizzas which are normally $10 and up. They also have some draft beer specials. Great deal for $5.

Taco Tuesdays everywhere: Taco Mesa, El Torito, El Ranchito Avilas, etc...

Black Angus has half off all drinks and appetizers. Great prices for drinks.

Yup, McCormick & Schmick's was the best darn deal.

      2. Pretty darned good for a chain, Yardhouse is one of our favourite go-to places for Happy Hour (due to proximity). They have a great list of half-priced appetizers.

We've tried Happy Hour @ Slidebar (decent) and Cafe Hidalgo (meh) in downtown Fullerton, but adore Yardhouse's 1/2 price menu.

The Yardhouse does have a good happy hour-there is also one at the Irvine Spectrum. The Pilsner Room at McCormick and Schimdts in Irvine also has a good happy hour

        2. The Beachfire in Ladera Ranch and San Clemente have a great happy hour with drink and food specials. I beleive it's until 7pm. On Fridays, if you're dressed in Aloha wear, you get happy hour all night. The Yard House is another favorite.

          1. Down south I can think of a couple.

Stella's Italian in Monarch Beach has $5 wine/Martini/Well and really good apps at 50% off ($5-8). Really good entrees at night as well.

Wind and Sea in Dana Point Harbor good apps and Mai Tais.

Lastly Harpoon Henry's in DP Harbor. Huge Calamari steak for $6 with good drink specials.

            1. I enjoyed Bubbly Hour at Chat Noir in Costa Mesa, near the Performing Arts Center. It's from 4:00 to 7:00pm Monday through Friday.

The same event is also at French 75 in Newport Beach, Irvine, and Laguna Beach, but I haven't been to those locations. It's a little pricier than your average happy hour, but the ambience and quality are well worth it. Chat Noir has a warm, funky red-and-black theme with, of course, black cats featuring in the decor. Even the handle on the front door is a cat. Live jazz starts up in the bar around 8:00 at Chat Noir. Not sure about if French 75 does the same.

50% off all their signature champagne cocktails (very tasty!)
20 wines by the carafe for glass prices
Complimentary Hors d'oeuvres (little quiches, freshly-made potato chips, savory varies by night. A waiter comes around and offers them to you.)
              Nightly martini specials

From what I have heard, Chat Noir is no longer in business. It has been replaced with another of David Wilhelm's restaurants Savannah. Since it is the same owner, I would assume that they might have some similar happy hour specials.

You might want to check the Culinary Adventures website for more info. A few of Wilhelm's restaurants have closed for business.
