Hi,

I'm looking for some good Happy Hours to go to in Orange County. Good food, cheap prices, nice trendy places. Does anyone know of any good ones? Hopefully, around Irvine, Tustin, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Anaheim areas....but Orange County in general is fine...give me your best ones!!! Thanks!

A few of my favorites near the airport -

McCormick & Schmick's has a $1.95 bar menu if you have a drink, but is good in the bar area only. Is located at Jamboree/Main.

Daily Grill has a $2 bar menu with great food including a chicken pot pie. Good in the bar and at some of the tables on the patio. Dupont/Jamboree

Wildfish has $5 wines and martinis along with half off select appetizers including the crabcake which is excellent. Bison/MacArthur, behind UCI.

Memphis Cafe has $4 food and good drinks for happy hour. Try the Zuni frybread. At Bristol near the Anti-mall (LAB).

Agoura Churrascaria has $4 filet mignon bites and other goodies in the bar, along with complimentary cheese puff bread and bananas. Main/MacArthur near the airport

Bistango has special priced appetizers (lamb chops, beef skewers, etc) but regular priced drinks for their Happy Hour specials. Von Karman/Michelson

One of the classier and fun happy hours is over at Park Ave in Stanton. Although a bit of a hike, I really like the cozy, Rat Pack like interior that brings back memories of a far away time, and they serve a mean sidecar martini. Beach/Katella.

I have been looking for some really good happy hours so I would like to see this post survive. These aren't so trendy, but are some good ones.

Lazy Dog Cafe on Thursday nights starting at 8:00 has Deuce Deuce which is $2 for 22 ounces of Pabst Blue Ribbon, $2 for green apple or lemon drop martinis, $2 off all well and beers and $2 off all appetizers and pizzas. Really big appetizers.

Steelhead Brewery in Irvine on Tuesdays has $5 pizzas which are normally $10 and up. They also have some draft beer specials. Great deal for $5.

Taco Tuesdays everywhere: Taco Mesa, El Torito, El Ranchito Avilas, etc...

Black Angus has half off all drinks and appetizers. Great prices for drinks.

Yup, McCormick & Schmick's was the best darn deal.

Pretty darned good for a chain, Yardhouse is one of our favourite go-to places for Happy Hour (due to proximity). They have a great list of half-priced appetizers.

We've tried Happy Hour @ Slidebar (decent) and Cafe Hidalgo (meh) in downtown Fullerton, but adore Yardhouse's 1/2 price menu.

The Yardhouse does have a good happy hour-there is also one at the Irvine Spectrum. The Pilsner Room at McCormick and Schimdts in Irvine also has a good happy hour

The Beachfire in Ladera Ranch and San Clemente have a great happy hour with drink and food specials. I beleive it's until 7pm. On Fridays, if you're dressed in Aloha wear, you get happy hour all night. The Yard House is another favorite.

Down south I can think of a couple.

Stella's Italian in Monarch Beach has $5 wine/Martini/Well and really good apps at 50% off ($5-8). Really good entrees at night as well.

Wind and Sea in Dana Point Harbor good apps and Mai Tais.

Lastly Harpoon Henry's in DP Harbor. Huge Calamari steak for $6 with good drink specials.

I enjoyed Bubbly Hour at Chat Noir in Costa Mesa, near the Performing Arts Center. It's from 4:00 to 7:00pm Monday through Friday.

The same event is also at French 75 in Newport Beach, Irvine, and Laguna Beach, but I haven't been to those locations. It's a little pricier than your average happy hour, but the ambience and quality are well worth it. Chat Noir has a warm, funky red-and-black theme with, of course, black cats featuring in the decor. Even the handle on the front door is a cat. Live jazz starts up in the bar around 8:00 at Chat Noir. Not sure about if French 75 does the same.

50% off all their signature champagne cocktails (very tasty!)
20 wines by the carafe for glass prices
Complimentary Hors d'oeuvres (little quiches, freshly-made potato chips, savory pastries...it varies by night. A waiter comes around and offers them to you.)
              Nightly martini specials

From what I have heard, Chat Noir is no longer in business. It has been replaced with another of David Wilhelm's restaurants Savannah. Since it is the same owner, I would assume that they might have some similar happy hour specials.

You might want to check the Culinary Adventures website for more info. A few of Wilhelm's restaurants have closed for business.

I agree with Tony - this post does need to survive. The happy hour food at Gulliver's across the street from the airport is unbelievable. Only problem is, they don't discount their booze. But i think the free food is still worth the full price drinks. Chronic Cantina in Triangle Square has a great deal on their happy hour food and drinks, although the place can appear a bit dodgy at times. French 75 has a really good happy hour too, with their champagne cocktails at half price ($5 instead of $10 each). The Harbourside restaurant in Balboa has a happy hour from 12-7 monday through friday - and that is good on their food and booze. It's a crack'n deal.

I am always looking for new happy hour deals! My favorite is Riptide in Mission Viejo. They have $1sushi, $2 handrolls and $3 8 pc rolls plus beer specials. Blue Moon is only $3! I think it runs every week day from 4 to 6:30.

Oceans 33 at the Shops in Mission Viejo (mall) has $5 fruity martini drinks and good food specials. The food is not super cheap, but is not normal bar food either. It's things like spinach artichoke dip, margerhita pizza, calamari and stuff...

Update: Oceans 33 Closed last month. Riptide changed their happy hour. It only runs until 6pm and the $1, $2, $3 specials are now $2, $4, $6 and Blue Moon is off the happy hour menu. On the bright side, it's a lot emptier and therefor quieter now. I am boycotting the place!

Ten Asian Bistro also has a great happy hour! $5 apple martinis, $3 beers, and $3-5 sushi/tempura/salads. it has a nice ambience as well!

The Clubhouse in Costa Mesa has a lovely happy hour. Drink and food specials. My sister works in the mall and goes there pretty often with her co-workers.

Will have to try The Clubhouse's HH. I really like their chicken pot pie. Also, in the mall is Z Tejas which has some deals on appetizers and drinks. Those little shrimp & avocado tostada things are yum.

Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ at the District in Tustin has a great Happy Hour, weekdays until 6 they have $2 off 22oz draft beers, wine, margaritas, martinis, and their specialty drinks (I recommend the Carnival Cooler- lots and lots of premium rum with OJ, pineapple juice and grenadine)... also $2 off some of their (huge) appetizers. My SO and I go there twice a month or more and get 2 drinks each plus 2 appetizers (which are tasty and filling) and spend less than $40. The service there is always great too, VERY friendly and welcoming (which is sometimes rare for "happy" hour at some places).

I just went to Savannahs at Fashion Island for their $5 Champagne cocktails and stayed for dinner to try their "Perfect 10". They offer 3 fabulous full sized entrees for only $10. I had the halibut with butter caper sauce and it was perfect!

These are some good post and I might try some tonight! I highly suggest the new Derby Dueling Piano bar at the kaleidoscope center in Mission Viejo, same owner as Riptide... They have $2 Corona night every Tuesday and the Piano players are awesome! I also highly suggest Champps Sports bar in the Irvin Spectrum on Thursday Night after 9pm, they have Karaoke which is packed with Good singers and all draft beer is $2.50, they also have half off all appetizers. Enjoy!

I wanna see this thread survive, and since the best thing about the economy tanking is that there are clearly more Happy Hour opportunities, I thought I'd revive it.

The A restaurant has 1/2 off all drinks, beer, and glasses of wine from 3-7 weekdays. Also, their appatizer menu is 1/2 off and includes their scrumptuous A burger (I substitute greyere for the bleu cheese myself).

Flemings has a 5 for 6 till 7 menu where five different cocktails, glasses of wine, and appetizers are $6 until 7:00. I believe this is every day too!

                                  Other OC HH deals?

The Crosby in Santa Ana actually has a pretty good HH from 5-8pm Mon-Fri; although I have heard reports that HH is all day on Monday...don't hold me to that though.

$1 Pabst, $2 off well drinks, $3 sangrias (red or white). There is also a small selection of food available. I got the $5 pizza and $5 chili cheese fries last week and it was a lot of food! Great deals.

Lola Gaspar gets my current vote. A rockin’ Spanish tapas bar/restaurant in the heart of Downtown Santa Ana’s Artist’s District (right behind Memphis). The “Siesta Hour”, M-F 3-6:30, features $3 drinks and a slew of reasonably priced ($5) tapas and specials. The blue cheese stuffed dates, duck fries, chorizo flat bread and lobster tacos are among the must haves (some of these are from the regular menu). The scene and vibe both speak good times.

Last time I did apps at Alcatraz, they were all mass produced breaded deep fried. Food for the masses with nothing fresh or freshly made.

Try the tapas at Cafe Tu Tu Tango also at The Block. Better variety, though don't know if they have happy hour prices.

Just adding to the Happy Hour info on Alcatraz @ The Block. All day HH is Friday and Sunday (not Saturday). Well drinks are $5.
A big THANKS for adding the Alcatraz info. We're looking for a place for Friday night that was offering HH specials after the normal 6 or 7pm cut off. Looks like we'll be trying it out this week. The girl I spoke to was saying that the place is usually packed by 5:30 - 6, but that table turn around is pretty quick (around 25 minutes or so for a party of 4). Hope it's good!!

Stonehill Tavern has happy hour that seems to be seasonal.

I vote for Canaletto at Fashion Island. They have a great happy hour with $5 cocktails (usually $10 and made with fresh ingredients) and some wines by the glass. They also have $5 apps.

Finbars has a $5 happy hour menu. Huge portions and pretty good food.

I love the happy hour at Chaparosa Grill at the District in Irvine. I love the atmosphere--quiet enough inside for a date and networking on the patio. Here's the menu http://www.chaparosagrill.com/special.... The Chicken Cab Mushroom over mashed potatoes are to die for. My husband and I often go here for a light dinner--appetizers and a drink--before going to the AMC next door for movies.

Wasn't sure whether or not to start a new thread because I have a similar question, but here goes...
My little cousin is graduating this Wednesday, and we'd like to take her out to a late happy hour after dinner with her parents. She lives in Garden Grove, but we're willing to drive anywhere within a 20 min radius for some late night drinks and snacks. I know Lazy Dog offers a late night menu, but I'm not sure if we have options elsewhere.
                                                      Thanks!

How late is late, and do you require cocktails, or is beer and wine alone okay?

Any time after 9PM, and cocktails would be great :) Thanks!

We went to Memphis Cafe in Costa Mesa last night. Late night happy hour starts at 10PM and goes until close. There are drink specials that run between $4 - 6, and food specials that run between $3 - 9. The bartenders were generous and the drinks were very good. The burger was really delish, and so was the fried okra.

I like the HHs at Il Fornaio in Irvine and Canaletto in Fashion Island (Newport Beach). They both belong to the same restaurant group.

                                                        Their website is atrocious, BTW...
