Appetizers before the Opera?

I would appreciate recommendations for restaurants serving tasty appetizers that I could dine at before attending the Lyric Opera. The restaurant needs to be within a short walk - say 5 to 10 minutes - of the opera (30 N. Wacker Dr.). Many thanks.

    Hi,
I actually work in the Lyric Opera House building (20 N. Wacker, by the way, not 30) and there really is not much. I very much recommend heading west to the West Loop area. There you have several options including Blackbird, Avec (may be best) and Carnivale. I've walked to all these restaurants easily from work.
    Enjoy!

Avec is a great recommendation. Its around half a mile from the Opera House, but excellent food served in small, appetizer sized portions designed for sharing. If its cold out, you can always grab a quick cab to the Opera.

Unfortunately, that part of the Loop has very few options. I work a block from the Opera House and always have the problem of trying to find something decent to eat. It is only a 7-10 minute walk to Greektown where you have many options, but generally more casual than you're likely to be dressed.

Within four blocks are three pseudo steak/business lunch places, all on N/S Wacker, that may fit the bill: Lloyds, One North Kitchen, and Townhouse. Nothing to get excited about but high-end atmosphere.

If you're driving, I would suggest going to Brasserie Ruhlman or Japonais for a great cocktail and some apps. Both in River North on Chicago with valet and only a 5 minute drive from the Opera. Much more festive atmosphere, and MUCH better food, than the loop places.

If anyone else has some ideas, please help!
