Sweet Delite on Clement

A few days ago I did make good on my promise to stop by Sweet Delite. I had a banana-strawberry smoothie with boba. The lady owner here is sweet as can be; her brother owns Wonderful Foods on Irving Street. She says they use the same recipes, but have a little different product mix. I noticed that Sweet Delite offers some Taiwanese snacks, e.g., noodle soups, and asks that you call your order in ahead. Has anyone tried these items?

Nearly three years later, I did finally order the Taiwanese style beef noodles (niu rou mian).

Noodles a little softer than I'd like, the broth could stand to be more concentrated and deeper. Lots of lean beef, just slightly overcooked and starting to turn dryish, but well-flavored and in generous proportions. I liked having lots of Shanghai cabbages as well.

So, not earth-shattering, but good to know it's there for when the urge strikes. Also, it's not necessary to order in advance, just walk-in.

Sweet Delite is closed as of last month, according to a nice note in their window thanking their customers. And just when I had filled up my frequent buyer's card. :(

So sorry to hear this news, guess the torch is carried by Wonderful Foods alone now.

Any connection to the former Sweet Delight (different spelling) in the 300 block that is now a Quickly?

Probably not, but here's the rest of the story and the reason I needed to visit,
