There was an article in the the LA Times Guide section about best salads. Tender Greens was on the list and I think Green Street also.

Ditto for Green Street, albeit not the exact area you're looking for but it's pretty close.
Also consider Crocodile Cafe across the way from Green Street. Both have good salads but Green Street has their own little unique signature salads that's worth trying (i.e. Diane Salad, etc.).

I like the spinach and field greens salad at Green St. :)

Mm I can send you a bit out of the way, to Pasadena!
Green Street Restaurant and Marston's in Pasadena have great salads!

Coffee Table and Senor Fish (surprisingly).

I've had the one that comes with their 3-pick-your-fish taco sampler platter, and it was surprisingly good. "Fresh" is the word that comes to mind. Think crisp cucumbers, juicy tomatoes, properly chilled lettuce, and just the right amount of dressing.

Occidental College's cafeteria has a decent salad bar, too.....

They have a baby green salad with jicima, tomatoes, manderian oranges, pinenuts (and some other stuff I can't remember). I usually get it with grilled shrimp, but sometimes grilled chicken. It's actually very fresh and tasty.
