I'm 15 and I need help on Cooking!

Help! I only have things like eggs, butter, sugar, salt, white pepper, soy sauce, chicken fillet, apples, pears, Chilies, vegetables and some cheese cakes in my refrigerator. I don't even know what to cook since I only have those things in my fridge. I can't even enjoy a healthy meal. I don't know what to put and what to mix in my wok and my mum will always be home late that I seldom had my dinner. So, I'm planning on preparing dinner on my own. But I don't know what to cook.

        The chicken stir fry is probably the easiest dish and it can be pretty healthy.
        Cut your chicken into strips about 2 cm by 6 cm, and sprinkle it with a little of the salt and pepper. Let that sit while you cut your vegetables up, then follow the instructions in the link that Cheese Boy posted for you.

      Oh, and take the sugar, salt, and white pepper out of the refirgerator!

          A stir fry is a good idea. I have no clue what cheese sammiches are -- maybe sandwiches? Do you have bread? I'm also not sure what cheese cakes are. Do you mean pieces of cheese? Good luck to you. My 14 year old son would have a hard time cooking his own dinner.

            this is a lesson for you to remember when your mother or some other person is cooking, you can watch. what kind of vegetables do you have? you can always
            make a soup . and if you have any leftovers in the refrigerator you can use them
            in making a soup. each saturday I clean out my refrigerator with leftovers and make a soup. you can learn alot of what things go to gether.

              Bigjimbray ... I think many of us learn out of necessity.

              I like the soup idea here. LiRa92, soups are very forgiving and are relatively simple to prepare. This might be the way to go (if you have good vegetables suited for soups). Prepare yourself a chicken vegetable soup.

                A cheese sandwich. 2 slices of bread with cheese in the middle. Spread butter on the outside part of the bread and put it in a hot skillet/pan. Check the bottom piece of bread for light browning and turn it over. When the outside of the bread is light to medium brown, the cheese should have melted so that the bread is stuck together.
                Pretty good and quick lunch.

                    another Idea is to see if you can find your mothers cookbooks and it will give
                    you some instructions and recipes. If you want to learn something, go to
                    website ( and they have taught people how to make things.
                    they show you in steps how to make things. also a website that shows how
                    to make things is ( try it if you have the time.

              2. I had the same problem several years ago. I learned from various cookbooks, and found it fun to learn about new ingredients (I grew up never trying beets, chard, black beans (!), mango...) It can be tough to cook for one person- I've been doing it for about 10 years now, and I just started a blog w/ photos explaining how to cook good healthy meals, with variety, for one person easily. It's a work in progress, but maybe you'll find something you like as I add more recipes...

                Also, my mom taught me the easiest chicken when I was a kid: put a chicken breast on top of a tsp or so of butter in a glass baking dish, sprinkle with italian bread crumbs and drizzle lemon juice in the dish- try using 2-3 tablespoons, depending on how big your dish is. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 350 for about 30-40 min, until chicken is cooked through (no longer pink in middle).

                  1. How about some scrambled eggs with vegetables in them? Do you have onions, mushrooms, and some green vegetables? Heat some butter in a pan. When it's hot, put in some chopped onions with a little salt. Let the onions get clear. Add some sliced or chopped mushrooms and a little more butter. Stir, and wait until the mushrooms start releasing some liquid (means they're done). Add some green vegetables and stir for a few minutes. Remove vegetables from pan. Beat some eggs and pour into the pan. Add vegetables back into the eggs. Stir, scraping the sides and bottom, until your eggs are cooked.

                    Sometimes I'll eat scrambled eggs with a little rice on the side. Do you have rice?

                    Have you talked to your mum about this? Maybe she has some ideas to make sure you are well fed.

                      Hi LiRa92! If you have a non-stick pan, one of the easy dinners that I like to put together is a frittata- basically, a big omelet that can be filled with whatever looks good to you- leftover cooked vegetables, bits of meat or cheese....

                      The nice thing is you can read the reviews and see how people changed the recipe. I do this all the time, even more since I've gotten comfortable cooking.

                      Another thing that I make a lot is Bangla eggs (that's just what I grew up calling them). For this you need oil, onion, eggs, salt, cayenne pepper, and ground turmeric. For 1 egg, cut about 6 thin rings of onion- as thin as you can get them. In a non-stick pan, over medium heat, warm up 1/2 teaspoon of oil. Add in the onion when the oil is hot, along with a pinch of salt. Stir the onion a little at first, but then let them sit and cook in the oil for about 5 minutes, until they begin to turn brown. Once they begin to turn brown, add in a small pinch of cayenne pepper and a small pinch of turmeric powder. Stir with the onions for that you can smell the spices and they are evenly mixed with the onion.

                      Spread the onions out into an even circle, then break an egg over the onions. The idea is to have the onions completely covered by the egg. Cook for one minute, then flip and continue to cook. You can flip it over so that the yolk breaks and cooks all the way through or only part of the way through. I personally like to flip it over easy so that the yolk stays nice a runny. This tastes really good with cooked rice and a simple vegetable on the side.

                        Sounds interesting 4Snisl!!! I will surely try this one later... But why do we have to put salt on the frying onions?

                          The salt helps to draw some of the moisture out of the onions so that they can soften up and brown without burning. My mom actually used to sort of massage the onions with some salt before putting them in the pan, so you can do that if you like. I think it turns out just fine if you don't :).

                        Hi seattledebs! What kind of mushroom do you think is the best for this dish? Button mushroom?
                        I do have rice here. It's the main thing that we should have here in Malaysia.
                        About my mum... I've told her that i need to learn more on how to cook like millions of time... but she never tried to help me with this... she's to busy i guess... Well anyway thanks a lot!!

                          Button mushrooms, sliced thin, are an easy, friendly kind to start out with. But I bet there are all sorts of interesting ones in the markets in Malaysia. Try some others.

                          Two other suggestions for you:

                          1- If there's a neighbor who cooks well, whom you like and whom your mum trusts, perhaps you could cook dinner with this neighbor occasionally?

                          2 - Speaking of local markets, can you pick out a new vegetable or fruit you'd like to try to prepare every once in a while from your local markets?
