Wholesale Oysters?

Does anyone have any recommendations of places in the greater Boston to purchase a large quantity of oysters cleaned and ready to be shucked? I am looking to buy a few hundred.

  1. Try Cape Cod Shellfish..31 Fish Pier...423 1555. They usually offer several sizes/ from different locations.

Wholesale biz..not a "retail mkt" but for that quantity, they'll accomodate you.

I bought Salt Pond Oysters from southern RI at Cape Cod Shellfish and they were the best tasting oyster i have ever had ! Going back for more this wknd.

    2. Try Capt. Mardens, Wellesley or ask your local seafood rest fro a recommendation.

      1. I catered an outdoor party this summer and bought all my raw bar product from Hook, believe it or not. I was very impressed with the quality - Welfleet oysters, Jonah crab claws, gulf shrimp - U8s and cherrystones. All fresh and delicious. Would recommend highly.

        1. Just so you know, the wholesale price range for oysters runs from about 55 to 95 cents per piece.

yes..that's the price at Cape Cod Shellfish. They supply some or all of the oysters to most of the other places mentioned here.

          2. At the Davis Square farmer's market (Wednesdays until 6pm, I think) there is an oyster vendor who sells excellent Wellfleets for $0.75/ea. I don't have his contact information but it's worth checking out next week.

I overheard him saying he wouldn't be at the market the day before Thanksgiving, so don't put it off if you want to talk with him. He sells terrific clams too.
