Here's an article from Michael Pollan that nicely encapsulates the issues from O.D. in the face of the current farm bill debate. Worth reading if you're interested in our food and where it comes from.

Thanks for the link. All Chowhounds should read Pollan's "The Omnivore’s Dilemma". I think I am going to pre-order his "In Defense of Food: The Myth of Nutrition and the Pleasures of Eating."

It's out in paperback now too, which is nice - just picked up a copy after reading the first chapter before giving the hardback edition to a friend!

Props to Michael Pollan for getting people interested in food provenance. You know there's some substance to the movement when even our lame-o Congress is actually going against the industrial farming lobby.

I wish that FN would give him a show or something--anything to get the message out even more effectively. "Michael Pollan's (or Barbara Kingsolver's) Taste of America" or such.

I bet the main media outlets stay clear of the issue, not a lot of profit for them in challenging a huge industry (just ask Oprah about that). All the more reason to agree with Pollan that this issue is in the hands of the us, the eaters.
