Recs for a solo female diner in Scottsdale?
I will be in Scottsdale for business and looking for good restaurants for a solo diner. I will be staying at the Hilton but will be traveling by taxi so don't want to venture too far. I'm open to different cuisines, especially anything that's a regional specialty, and willing to spend about $50 on a meal (including wine).
I've been reading good things about Sea Saw, Element and Cowboy Ciao. Are these good places? Any other suggestions?
Thanks so much!
Oh, I LOVE eating alone...makes choices much easier. I would select C. Ciao, Sea Saw (at the bar) and then walk to wherever you are drawn.
Consider a cab up to La Locanda - they are SO friendly and nice at the bar you'll never ever regret being single and dining. Get any risotto or the squid-ink seafood pasta...AMAZING!!
Rancho Pinot isn't a bad choice....just doesn't strike me as single friendly so much as friendly in general.
Also, don't ignore low-key ethic choices...open to Mexican, Thai, Asian, etc??
Whole-heartedly agree - the service is relaxed and will make you feel comfortable, and I've never been disappointed with a meal there. Let them choose some wines for you, they have a nice list. The places you mentioned are all nice, but there's just no sense in wasting time in a cab when Rancho Pinot is right there.

As a woman who dines alone quite a bit for business...I highly tout Methode Bistro. It is very inviting in the bar area as a solo diner...the staff is very accomodating as well as friendly. The space is modern , eclectic and mediterranean inspired. The menu is creative and interesting. Chef McGlinn has put together a very exciting new menu...with many wines offered by the glass.
The restaurant also has a nice happy hour where all wines are half price along w/ many of the appetizers......
Most of the entrees are well priced as well!
Methode Bistro is in the same strip center as Ranch Pinot.....
Also right next to the two mentioned above is Taneko Japanese Tavern. I ate there last week and had a nice sampling of appetizers. It was very comfortable with friendly servers. The tempura oysters were exceptional, and the sake selection is varied but not overwhelming. A little pricey, but not too bad.
