Taggio @ Firesky resort in Scottsdale

had a $18 burger at Taggio today on the strength of an Internet recommendation and unfamiliarity with Scottsdale.

Verdict: Don't bother.

Burger was slightly 'off' and tasteless. They mangled the order and frankly, I wasn't impressed with the Firesky either. Just another hotel with pretensions.

Win some, lose some, eh?

  1. I haven't been to Taggia yet, but from everything I've read on this board and elsewhere, I think that ordering a burger there would be like ordering falafel at a barbecue joint. In other words, the item is so far outside the restaurant's specialty that I wouldn't expect it to be very good. Taggia specializes in Italian coastal cuisine, so I would be more inclined to judge it based on how well it fulfills that mission. The burger is probably on the menu only because the hotel has some finicky guests who don't want to try the restaurant's signature dishes.

By the way, another Kimpton hotel has been announced for Downtown Phoenix, so I hope we'll get another good restaurant at that site.

Exactly. I don't know why anyone would even bother to order a burger at a place with so many interesting non-burger options.

BTW, I see an $11 burger on the menu, but not an $18 version.
