Serrano and Tin Angel

We're in Philadephia for the weekend soon, and hope to attend a show at a venue named Tin Angel. It seems the only way to get a reserved table is to eat at their companion restaurant, Serrano. Menu seems reasonable, not over the top. We're casual kind of folks, hoping to hit Morimoto on the next day. Any reasons we shouldn't try Serrano?

It's been a while since I've been there, but I remember a great chocolate pecan pie at Serrano. Thank you.

the tin angel is a really cute venue! i was less than impressed by serrano... but it's been a year since i visited. there are a ton of eats around this area... but my favorite casual place in the area is pagoda noodle house, a block or so south, off to the left past the parking garages on sansom street walkway (next to the ritz east movie theatre). i think they're great asian comfort food, but they rarely seem to get mentioned here! my staples there are the indonesian tofu soup, the singapore noodles, and the fried banana dessert. i don't think i've ever had a bad meal from them.

I agree with Cruz completely. The only reason to eat there is to get one of the few reserved seats and if you are really interested in the performers, then its worth it.

Funny thing is, many years ago before Tin Angel, Serrano was a good restaurant.

Serrano's food is eclectic, but mediocre. Nevertheless, I usually eat there before a show at the Tin Angel so I can get a reserved seat. Otherwise, there's really no reason to go there.
