Disappointing Meal at Vintage
Had a very mediocre meal at Vintage last night. I ordered a glass of Prosecco and it was clear that the bottle had been open for far too long- very few bubbles and very little kick. I had a duck leg confit over goat cheese risotto for my main. The flavors all meshed together in an over-salted glop--- there was very little distinguishing sense except for salt. The bread seemed cold and industrial. My companion had an onion soup with non-melted cheese, but two others really enjoyed their salads (duck salad and some sort of bulgur salad special).
Sorry to hear about your meal, Ilana.
Just a suggestion regarding your Prosecco, though...I usually order sparkling wines by the glass wherever I go, and sometimes I'll get a flat one as well. But I find that if I let the server know, they're always happy to open a fresh bottle and replace my drink.
Had a terrible meal there a few months back...service was condescending and the wine wasn't very good (and, to be fair, we were going by their recommendations and though we're not wine snobs, we're not total idiots on the subject either). I get the feeling it's more of a destination spot than a culinary place...
