  • 9

Going to the Contemporary Crafts show at the SM Civic this weekend. Anything worth a visit within walking distance? Thanks

    316 PICO BLVD

    1802 OCEAN AVE

    Whist at the Viceroy hotel

Tons of places along ocean and in the promenade

La Botte at 7th and Santa monica is a bit far from the civic but a personal fave.

    1. Nothing but great choices nearby!

Walk down to Main Street and take your pick - go to Library Alehouse, which is always good. Cora's is a great suggestion.

      1. When you are driving to/from, make a pit stop at Tacos Por Favor for the chorizo and cheese taco... you won't regret it.

        1. Chaya on Main Street is always great. Not sure if they do lunch though....
The Galley is good old school steak/burger fare-also on Main.
Cora's (Ocean Ave) does a really good burger.
Bravo pizzeria on main street has a decent slice but awful service.
I personally heart Chez Jay (Ocean Ave) . Your classic dive bar w/ decent eats IMO.

          1. Cha Cha Chicken is just a couple blocks away at Pico and Ocean.

But also, you can get a damn good hotdog at the auditorium snackbar.

            1. I second the Library, on Main Street. It is a fun, delish option. Or, Urth Cafe is always a great go-to.

              1. the main street restaurants are fine, but are they really walking distance from the auditorium?

                1. Unless it's gone away, the coffee shop in the bowling alley, across the street from the rear of the auditorium, has some excellent food at very reasonable rates. We've just gotten lunch fare, since we're always there for daytime things like antiques shows, but everything's been good enough so that it's definitely a factor in any decision as to whether we're going to schlep all that way for an event. Yes, the concessions inside the auditorium ain't bad, but the food and prices across the street are both generally better, and you get to sit down and have stuff brought to you. No lines, either!

Will is so right! This little place is exactly what I was going to post about. Very well executed coffee shop fare.
