Midwest Grill-Saugus-Open

I stopped by the Midwest Grill on Rt.1 in Saugus and they are now open for lunch and dinner. I did not eat there but will go there next week and report back.

    1. When we went to enjoy ECG's Hell Night the other day, I noticed the East Cambridge location is boarded up. I guess Saugus is going to be the only location. Probably a wise decision.

what night did you see it shuttered?...we just ate there last week?
why is it wise to only have the saugus location open?....they have been doing great business in Cambridge for years (the reason they have opened a new location)

We were at ECG on Tuesday night for Hell-o-ween. Noticed plywood boards over the windows and no furnishings inside.

Why do I think it is a good idea that they have one location - wasn't impressed with the food or service when we went and I think having two restaurants of that caliber makes it harder to stay in business. This is just MHO.

I haven't been by Midwest in Cambridge this week, but they held a "news conference" for Massachusetts Alliance of Portuguese Speakers on Wednesday. I received an email announcement which specifically said the Cambridge location (about 100 feet from MAPS' headquarters). When they do have news conferences (Popo the Brazilian boxer often uses there), they do rearrange the furniture. So dunno, they did do something on Wednesday, but doesn't explain the plywood.

Maybe the windows were broken? But we both had the same thought, it looks closed.

      2. Where on Rt. 1 is it located? In one of the strip malls?

There's a coal oven pizzeria that's also supposed to open there. Of course, it takes a while for a coal oven to gather its character, so I hope reviewers understand that it's best to wait a good while before assessing the character of a coal oven pizza. Even Grimaldi's new locations seem to take a looong time to get it smoothly going.
