User Guide

I recently came into possession of a Simac IL Gelataio 800 Icecream maker, but did not get a manual/users guide with it. I have searched the internet, but can't seem to find anyplace I can download or purchase one. Does anyone know where I can get one?

    1. Here are links to PDF files that appear to the Gelataio 800 owners manuals. But they contain little english:

Thanks. Unfortunately English is the only language I speak or read. I'll keep looking.

          • Were you able to figure out how to remove the bowl for cleaning on this unit (I assume it's the big one called Il Gelataio Boy)?

I have an old model of Simac Il Gelataio 800 and I would like to receive by a e-mail attatchment the the manual/recipe book in English.
Do you know where can I get spares parts for my old Simac 800?
I need the plastic blade (paddle), to substitute the original one that has broken.

Hi there Francisco. Please let me know whether you were sent any information on your old Simac. I have just acquired what looks like a very old model about the size of a small microwave and very heavy. If you have any information for me, please reply to my mail with details about where to find directions/manual etc. Thanks and would be very, very appreciated.

                        1. re: Sonso

If it's the model I used to have, the bowl is a one piece unit sealed together with the freezing gel in a plastic enclosure. The idea is that you can leave the whole thing in the freezer and then use it as an ice bucket or to chill a bottle of wine when you're not making ice cream, and there aren't as many parts to clean. It's also more compact than the ones with a three-part bowl/base.

                            1. re: Sonso

The bowl for this model is not removable. I posted cleaning instructions below, from the user manual.

Hello. I also recently acquired an Il Gelataio 800 by Simac that appears to be in new condition. The only thing that came with it was a hardbound 5" x 7" book of recipes with instructions for three different Simac models. There was no user manual or instructions covering the operation of the machine. The Simac website offers downloadable manuals for their two current models, but none for their older ones. Would someone be kind enough to offer me a copy of yours or point me to where I might find one? Thank you very much.

                                                                                                                USER MANUAL TEXT:
"Parts of the Machine: Il Gelataio has only four parts: the white plastic base which houses the freezing unit and motor, has a stainless steel bowl set into it and has two switches and a minute timer on the side; the plastic blade fits into the bowl; the metal nut which locks the blade into place; and the clear plastic lid which fits over the bowl.

"Assembly: Place the base on a clean, dry counter near an electrical outlet. Insert the blade into the bowl, making sure it fits securely over the shaft in the bowl. Turn the nut above ghe blade to lock it into place. Plug in the machine. Il Gelataio is ready to go to work.

Operating Procedure: Operating Il Gelataio is quick and easy. Turn on the "chill" switch and let the machine chill for about 5 minutes. You may let the machine chill longer, but it isn't necessary. It is essential that the machine chill for at least 2 minutes before adding the mixture and turning on the "churn" switch.
Once the bowl is chilled, pour in the mixture. Place the cover over the bowl.
Turn on the "churn" switch. Set the timer for the time recommended in the recipe (usually 20 minutes) and walk away. Note that our freezing times are always for mixtures at room temperature or colder. If your mixture is still warm, it will take longer to freeze.
The machine will run for the time set; then the blade will stop turning, but the machine will keep the mixture frozen until you turn it off. Do not leave any mixture for too long, however, or it will get very hard. Ideally, iced mixtures should be served just barely frozen so they are soft enough to shape. Never let them get icy.
Before removing the cover from the bowl, either to add something or to remove the finished product, turn the timer to zero and turn off the "churn" switch. You can add ingredients while the machine is running by turning the white plastic central knob to the side to reveal the opening in the cover. Drop nuts or other small things through the opening and then close it again.
Remove the finished contents with a rubber spatula or ice cream scoop. Turn off the "chill" switch and unplug the machine.
Note: Once you turn the chill switch off, always wait at least 5 minutes before turning it on again.
The recommended mixing time in each recipe may vary, depending on desired consistency, and temperature of the ingredients used. If more mixing time is desired, reset timer and churn will continue operation until desired consistency.

CLEAN UP: The cover, blade and nut are all removable and dishwasher safe. Before cleaning the bowl, make sure the "chill" switch is off. Pour 1/4 cup hot water into the bowl. Let it sit for a minute to warm the metal, then wipe the bowl out with a damp, soapy sponge. Rinse by wiping a damp towel, then dry thoroughly.

SPECIAL FEATURES: Il Gelataio has two switches - one which operates the cooling element - labeled "chill" - and one which operates the mixing blade - labeled "churn". The blade will operate only when the "churn" switch is on and the timer is set. Therefore, you can chill the bowl before adding the mixture. Once the bowl is chilled, add your cooled mixture and turn on the "churn" switch. Having both bowl and mixture cold speeds the freezing process.
When the contents have been mixed for the necessary time, the timer will go off and the blades will stop turning, but the machine will keep the mixture cold until you're ready to serve it. No need to keep running into the kitchen to make sure the mixture isn't overbeaten. No need to remove the frozen dessert hurriedly to a clean bowl and find a place for it in the freezer so it doesn't melt before you're ready for it.
The cover has a central, sliding know, allowing you to open it to add ingredients while the machine is running."

Just purchased one of these machines this weekend.

2 things, 1 its seems very noisy, this seems to be from the paddle drive rather than the electric motor, maybe this is normal ?

2 nd question should the compressor come on without the paddle ?

Mine does not but the above instructions seem to imply it should.

Maybe a wire put on switch the wrong way (?)
                                                                                                                    Picture of switch wiring below.

                                                                                                                    thanks
