Tapas Party

  • 5

Is Alta a good choice for a dinner party with around 10 people?

Or any other suggestions for a place, moderately priced, with family style servings.

(Stanton Social would be perfect, but I’ve had my share of dinners there - - and that’s a little bit too pricey)

Thanks so much!!

  1. alta was good. they have a cute room upstairs for a group of 10. the portions are definitely not family style size. pipa is good but might not work for a group of your size. i hear antique garage is a good spot, dying to go. i remember sala in gramercy being good, haven't been in a few years. a little more casual.

Second Pipa...great atmosphere and drinks to boot!

    2. Tapas anywhere won't be family style... maybe OP just means shareable plates.

Alta would be great - for 10 "the whole shebang" could be great - you get the whole menu for a set price, $350 I think. They handle parties very well.... I had 60 there once. Their drinks are great, too.

Was at Alta on Monday. 'The Whole Shebang' is $340. We decided, though, that if we were going to spend $340, we'd get $340 worth of only the dishes we liked. It can add up though and the bill was over $700 for seven of us. Also remember, American Express or Cash only!!

Wow. So maybe it is best to go with the whole shebang? Did you end up getting a lot more food than whats included in that Drew E? How many people were you with?

I did make a rez at Alta for ten of us. They didn't mention the package - - if I decide its worth doing, is it something that we have to ask for in advance?
