Spargo's in Manalapan?

In the Andee Plaza on RT. 33.....has anyone been here. I have never tried it, but recently heard from a friend who went to a shower the food was pretty good. Any thoughts???

Hey, Angelina,

Spargo's has been around for a long time. I took not just one, but three, for the team long before there was a team. That means before I began participating on Chowhound.

The first time we went, it showed a bit of promise, so we went again. However, as so often happens with restaurants around here, the second time was a disappointment, aka, lack of consistency. Then, there was a chef/ownership change, so we gave it another try. Echoing jsfein -- mediocre. Moral of the story: Don't waste your money!

Spargo's seems to have its fans, but I'm not one of them. Last time I was there, they offered something like a 5 course meal for $45. May have been a bargain, but the food was mediocre and I haven't returned.
