Review: City Fish (Orlando)

  • 1

City Fish is owned by the same group that owns Kres and Citrus. DH and I had lunch there today. We started with cups of seafood gumbo and clam chowder. The gumbo was good, but it was in a tomato broth rather than a traditional roux. The new england clam chowder was out of this world, as good as the one I make, which is so very rare for any restaurant (I make an awesome clam chowder).

For lunch, DH had fish and chips. It was fine but had a bit of a frozen taste. I had seafood nachos, which were ginormous. I wish they offered a half portion. I liked that they had white cheddar on them, but the salsa (which was pretty but tasted like out of a jar) overpowered the fish, shrimp, and scallops.

They also have a lobster sub sandwich, which we did not get, at a whopping $22. It is lobster meat mixed with mayo (like seafood salad), and lettuce. If we go again, we might get soup and split the lobster sub, just to try it. It better be good for a $22 sandwich.

Even without the expensive lobster sandwich, our soups, fish & chips, seafood nachos, coke, and tea came to $40 before tip. WAY OVER PRICED.

  1. i went there last weekend and had a great experience. the broiled scallops were great, and their hushpuppies are awesome! service was wonderful.
while $22 lobster rolls sound expensive, they cost about $18 in maine, so to me, $22 doesn't sound too bad. i plan on trying them next time.
