Wild Oats in Westport now WF

I don't know about you...but I'm VERY happy. I knew they had merged, but didn't realize this would come so quickly. You can see they're slowly phasing out the Wild Oats brand and bringing in WF.

The biggest plus for me? No more fighting rush hour traffic Stamford to Greenwich & back to Norwalk.

I've never been a Wild Oats fan, but have also never been to a Whole Foods. What will be different?

Certainly not the cost. I shop at Wild Oats as it's close to my office, but I might as well just attach a vaccuum cleaner hose to my bank account! From what I understand, the switchover to "Whole Paycheck" isn't going to be much better.

I used to shop at places like this because they made me feel better about my choices in food. Now I see I'm just feeding into another corporate juggernaut where they are importing foods from South America and the workers who picked that produce probably don't get paid enough to buy it.

Sorry. I'm a little grumpy this morning.

Well the thing is...we all know WF isn't cheap. There are plenty of other places to shop at if you don't feel like spending the money. Personally, I find their produce to be superior than that of other stores in the area which is one of the main reasons why I enjoy shopping there & they do try to source locally when possible. I also like a lot of their specialty items. I certainly can not do ALL my shopping at WF though. It's just one more option in the area I am pleased about.

I haven't shopped much at Wild Oats, but recently started going there because it is closer to my house and I can't stand trying to get home from Greenwich during rush hour on 95. It's like driving on the LIE these days. I think once the transformation is completed, the WildOats/WF store will be nice. It's a huge space, at least 2 or 3 times bigger than the Greenwich store. I noticed last night there's a bigger cheese selection (even from a couple wks ago), they've also got Marcona Almonds which are by far my favorite snack. And the WF 365 brand is usually very relaiable and equivalent to that of name brand products.
