Baked Pears
Yesterday I made Goat Cheese Ice Cream a la David Lebovitz and, since the pears in my area are looking gorgeous, I was wondering if anyone had any good, simple pear recipes to pair with my ice cream. I've got a few that I'm thinking about (those vanilla poached pears in the recipe section look delicious) but I'd like some other options as I don't currently have any vanilla beans handy.
Thanks so much!

I like to roast them. I peel, quarter and core the pears, toss them with a Tbs of maple syrup and throw them in a saute pan with a bit of butter. Once the butter is melted, put in the pears, toss to coat and roast at 350 for about 20-30 minutes, depending on the pears. Flip them halfway through for better browning.

You can make a poaching liquid sans vanilla bean with just using some white wine, water, sugar and lemon juice. Sometimes vanilla may be too strong in poaching pears. You could do the same by peeling pears and placing them in a baking dish sliced in half. Sprinkle with some sugar and add some wine in the dish and bake in a 375 oven until the pear is soft.
