Dallas: Zen Sushi
I saw the article at Pegasus news, linked below, last week. They mention that Michelle Carpenter from Yamaguchi's opened her own place in Oak Cliff, Zen Sushi. Has anyone had a chance to try it?
We hope to get down there this week or next.
We got over to Zen last night and I want to tell you that I am reluctant to post my review, because I don't want there to be a mad rush for this place. We got there at 7 and were one of two tables at that time, but judging from the whole Bishop Arts district, Mondays are slow days.
All of the sushi was super fresh, and well portioned. The pieces were not too big, and not too small. I'd even say that Zen would compete with Sushi Sake in the quality and freshness of fish.
We ordered two rolls, the signature Zen Roll and a Dragon Roll. The Zen roll was a cucumber wrapped roll with tuna and albacore in a light sauce. The Dragon roll was a spicy tuna roll with yellow mustard which was a perfect touch on the standard spicy tuna roll.
All in all, this place is a wonderful addition to the Dallas sushi scene and I'm sure will do well. They have Monday specials starting at 8:00, we'll be back for that soon.
