Molasses Hallowe'en candy: Toronto

Olivia Oct 31, 2007 11:10 AM

Does anyone know at which major stores (grocery, drug) I can find the molasses kisses Hallowe'en candy? The soft chewy ones (or hard, if they're stale), with the wax paper wrapper with black and orange on it? The ones many people find revolting? <lol>

They're for me, not the kiddies so it's not an urgent SOS for tonight.

Olivia, I am so happy you said they were for you!!! I adore them!! I'm so glad 'dramarama' saw them at Walmart/Bulk Barn. Last year I took 5 bags with me to our winter home in Jamaica! (p.s. my dear husband thinks I'm crazy..but you can guess who was 'helping' to eat them!. We get wonderful Cadbury's Chocolate Bars (the English ones) down there....contrary to what some people think, chocolate wears out its welcome after a bit...those molasses 'kisses' which I freeze are just the right answer to chocolate overload!!
I'll be on the search tomorrow!!

I found them at Shoppers @ Yonge & St. Clair but they were hard to find.

Alright then, so Walmart, Bulk Barn, and Shopper's then. Thanks everyone!

PearlD, why do you freeze them? To keep them fresh and firm in the hot Ja. climate, or do you enjoy them frozen?

I love them frozen but truth to be told at room temperature they get quite squishy (which I also like) but ants are a TERRIBLE problem....on that subject, I made a wonderful chocolate Layer cake there and since I didn't have room in the fridge I thought I could keep it in the Microwave overnight......DUH!! It just about walked out of the microwave under it's own power!! Needless to say anything resembling 'sweet' has to be kept in the fridge (even Mentos!!)

PearlD - I found them at the Bulk Barn at Leslie and Lakeshore I think that's convenient for you (may be wrong)

Love those! I reserve the ones close to an industrial diamond on the hardness scale for aggressive 15 yr-old punks who crowd the costumed tots off my porch. Always get mine at Bulk Barn--guaranteed stale, too!
