Italian Midtown West?

My boss is taking his wife into NYC for the weekend. They are staying on 56th St., between 7th and Broadway.
He has asked me to help him find an Italian Rest. in the area.
Any suggestions?

      Maria Pia or Tony Di Napoli's (for family style) are my "go to" Italian spots in Midtown West.

        I don't know what price range you are looking for, but the suggestions here are all good in their respective ranges. In the upper moderate range I would agree strongly with Vice Versa. Orso is also very good.

          Try Barbetto...........old brown stone and great food.

            If your boss wants to go upscale, Alto is just a tad east of the west side, on 53rd, b/t 5th & Madison. It just received 3 stars in the "NY Times." Not that I care what Bruni thinks, but some others do. Better yet, fellow Hound MMRuth gave it a rave. Now, that's someone whose opinion I value!

                How about walking across to Felidia? 58th and 2nd, it will allow you to walk off a little of dinner.

                I have lived in the area for a few years and I always loved Rino Trattoria, located on 8th Ave, between 52nd and 53rd Streets. Very reasonable priced, delicious food and friendly atmosphere.
