Tea & Dim Sum place in SR
There's a sign & liquor permit on the old A&W on Armory Drive (parallel the freeway, just south of Steele Lane).Anyone know anything more? The place will need rennovations first.

I was so excited for Hang Ah to open in Santa Rosa and went on the second day they were open. They do not have the same menu as the Hang Ah Tea Room in SF and I think they were still learning to get the tasting of the food right. The pork steam buns are the size of large cinnamon rolls and are a great deal at $2.50 for two. I will try them again, but I want to give them a few months to work out the kinks.

re: Bodegadawg
I went there today and it's decent. Some better than others, bbq pork buns were good, shanghai dumplings, turnip cakes and shumai were good too. I have never been to the one in the city, I usually go to tong kiang or yank sing but it was good enough to fulfill my dim sum cravings without driving to the city, so I am happy!!
Next visit I am going to try the shark fin dumplings in a broth and beef chow fun.

Okay, so the semi-official word on this, according to Press Democrat columnist Chris Smith is: "The new owners intend to open a Santa Rosa satellite of San Francisco's Hang Ah Tea Room, billed as the oldest dim sum restaurant in Chinatown." Yeah, I didn't want to be the bearer of that bad news.
When's the last time you tried Hang Ah? It was sold in 2003, and might have changed hands again since then, per this post.

Noticed yesterday on my way by the old A&W via the freeway that the building seems to be under construction now...anyone have any updated info on this proposed dim sum place? Come on Chowhound Detectives! Let's get the intel!
It's in my neck of the woods and I can't wait! (if it does turn out to be tea & dim sum).
