Favorite Shenendoah Vinyard?

I plan on going to a winery in the Shenendoah valley in the next month. Can anyone suggest a good vineyard? A nice view would be a huge plus. Thanks in advance!

The Virginia Wineries Association (www.virginiawines.org) divides the state up into five geographical areas, among them Eastern, Northern, Central, Southwest and Shenandoah Valley. There are many wineries close to the Shenandoah Valley region in the Central region, including one of my favorite on the western side of the mountains, Rockbridge. Check out the website and look at the maps. You are bound to find some great wineries - and - generally - all the views up there are great.

Also, a new wine magazine devoted to Virginia wine (and food) is starting next year - the website is www.virginiawinelover.com.

    Cheers

There are TWO American Viticultural Areas named "Shenandoah Valley." Which are you asking about, California or Virginia?

Well, to the best of my knowledge, there are only five wineries in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley . . . and I haven't been to any of them.

          Cave Ridge Vineyard
          Mt. Jackson, VA
          540-477-2585

          Deer Meadow Vineyard
          Winchester, Virginia
          540-877-1919 or 800-653-6632

          Guilford Ridge Vineyard
          Luray, Virginia
          540-778-3853

          North Mountain Vineyard & Winery
          Maurertown, Virginia
          540-436-9463

          Shenandoah Vineyards
          Edinburg, Virginia
          540-984-8699
