Pantheon on the Danforth

Have read previous posts and this seems to be the restaurant most rec. Any current thoughts?
I use to love Avli but as others have said 2 recent disappointing dinners won't have me going back.

  1. I've always had really good to great experiences there.

    1. Not spectacular but always sound, safe and reliable.
      My staple destination on Danforth.

      1. Avoid going on a weekend night. I like this resto very much. Food is delicious. It's a family run restaurant.

        1. I prefer to go further east to Erato at Danforth & Monarch Park. They always have a grilled fish special, and their seafood souvlaki is excellent. It's not in the lively part of Greektown but it's a great place to relax and the service is better compared to Pantheon or Avli.

Glad to see mention of Erato. I've only picked up some take-out there (can't remember what exactly), but the food was good and the people (a family?) are super nice. Sometimes looks empty when I drive by and I was worred they are not holding their own in that neighbourhood.

          2. This place didn't even come close to what I read in posts. Very disappointing. Of course I went a few months after a trip to Greece. Don't get your hopes up. Strangely enough, my husband found a place in New Toronto that was super cheap, not licensed, but as close to Greece as he'd had on this side of the pond.

And this place in New Toronto is???

              1. re: TCB

It's around 30th st on Lakeshore. Apparently, it's called Mr Greek, but it is not part of the chain, so the name may be a subtle version of that.

If you go, please post a review.

New Toronto is around Kipling, Lakeshore, south of the rail lines. A real working-class neighbourhood.
