Battling a severe case of the crud thought I'd muster what energy is left into this request for help from our illustrious band of local hounds.

Chicken soup was my first thought, but the only source I can think of nearby is Catalano's market but I understand the soups in their deli are institutional products out of cans. After a miserable morning at work yesterday I stopped at Pho Paradise and got a bowl of Dac Biet (iirc) which, along with a healthy dose of sriracha, really cleared the sinuses, brain fog, and unexpectedly turned out to be a great attitude adjuster.

Does anyone know of other soups or dishes that might work along the same lines? Another thought was posole from the little place at the NW corner of First and Tulare (Taco Rapido?). I caught a thread on the SF board about mondongo which I'd never heard of. It's not the same as menudo but is apparently based on tripe and a few other ingredients that don't sound that appetizing at this point. Here's a pic:

Most grateful for any pointers to places in town that carry/serve restorative dishes. TIA

If you ever get one of those kind of sicknesses where you need something bland because anything else will turn your stomach, try 'Jook' (chinese rice porridge). I think Imperial Gardens has it, but I'm not sure.

Thanks ld26, that's good to know. I rarely experience a loss of appetite or anything that alters my taste for... well, anything. My wife can be a different story, nice to know I can take her for jook at IG while I scarf down their dim sum. ; >P
